SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State football team held its first scrimmage of fall camp, running 76 plays under the lights of Hornet Stadium on Saturday night. The format featured the offense starting at various points on the field and saw the team use all of its available players.
"Our goals for today where to see a lot of players play," Sacramento State head coach
Andy Thompson said. "We've been practicing hard all week and wanted to place the guys into some game situations. We were able to play all 105 players who were able which is a good number and allowed us to have several different combinations. We'll now get a chance to look at the tape and see what we need to improve on."
The defense made the first big play of the night when
Zelmar Vedder jumped a route along the sideline for an interception on the second play of the scrimmage.
The offense answered with a six-play, 75-yard drive on the ensuing series.

Joey Cook later found tight end

The defense dug in following the score and for three consecutive three-and-outs. The third series featured a 7-yard sack on the opening play to put the offense behind the chains.
The night closed with the offense scoring touchdowns on six of the final eight drives.
Devin Gandy caught a 26-yard touchdown pass from
