1. This Is MACtion
Sacramento State will get its first dose of MACtion as the team hosts Toledo on Wednesday at 4 p.m. For those unfamiliar, MACtion started in 1999 when then-MAC Commissioner Rick Chryst created midweek games to get greater national television exposure. The games have earned a cult-like following and have been notorious for wild outcomes. The Hornets will play a second MACtion game next Wednesday at Central Michigan.
Â
To help get faculty, staff, students and fans into the stands early, promotional prices are being offered on concession items including discounted beer, hot dog and hamburger meals. There will also be military flyover following the national anthem and postgame fireworks. The final Live At The Hive will take place after the game with a concert from Ty Dolla Sign on the practice field north of the stadium. Fans will need a ticket to the game to attend the concert.
2. One Last Time
The game will also be Senior Day as Sacramento State will recognize 26 players who will be playing at Hornet Stadium for the final time. Among the group are a group of six players who have spent their entire collegiate career with the Hornets comprised of:
Derek Houston,
Elias Mullican,
Alex Rocha,
Xavier Williams and
Brandon Sousa.
Â
With the Hornets playing their final two games on the road, this year will be the earliest Senior Day for the program since 2012 against Montana State on Nov. 3.

3. Dressed To Impress
With November being Native American Heritage Month, Sacramento State will unveil new uniforms and helmets that were created with consultation of the Wilton Rancheria tribe. The custom hand-painted helmet has a picture of an eagle on the right side while the left side features the Tower Bridge and the Sacramento River. Wilton Rancheria is the only federally recognized Native American tribe in Sacramento County. The eagle embodies wisdom and vision. The bridge represents connection between past and present while the river were highways for Native people and connected communities via trade, food and cultire. The helmet also has a row of arrowheads down the center. The arrowhead was the most important weapon and helped defend and feed the community. The arrowhead symbolizes that each person must do their part to survive. The green jersey has a diamond motif on the sleeves which represents basketry traditions, the arrow pattern around the neck and two feathers at the top of the back. The pants have a row of arrowheads down the side as well as two feathers near the hip.

4. #ProHornets
Former Sacramento State All-American Darnell Sankey continues to dominate in the CFL. Sankey ranked second in the league with 114 total tackles, including three sacks. He also had 12 passes defended and an interception. Those numbers earned Sankey the CFL Defensive Player of the Year award.
Â
DeAndre Carter made a return to the NFL two weeks ago when he was added to the Detroit Lions' 53-man roster. Carter, who is in his ninth NFL season, returned his first punt 15 yards and is averaging 23.0 yards per kick return. Carter is second among all active players in the NFL in career punt returns and punt return yards.
