SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Sacramento State softball program had seven players from the 2022 roster receive the Scholar-Athlete Award from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) after recording a 3.5 gpa or better during the 2021-22 academic year.
The seven players to receive the honor are
Kelsey Alcantara,
Marissa Bertuccio,
Haley Hanson,
Gwen Ludwig,
Alyssa Nunez,
Alexis Parish and
Arianna Pires. Nunez is now a three-time winner of the award while Bertuccio, Hanson and Parish each received the honor for the second time.
Overall, Sacramento State posted a 3.14 team GPA during the academic year, which ranks among the nation's top 150 Div. I teams for grade point average. In addition, a total of 15 players from last year's roster currently hold an overall grade point averages above 3.0.
