GREELEY, Colo. -- Northern Colorado scored nine runs over four innings, and limited the Hornets to four hits on the way to a 9-1 victory over Sacramento State on Saturday afternoon.
The Bears took two of the three in the Big Sky Conference series matchup, as the two teams split a doubleheader yesterday. Sacramento State dropped to 22-13 overall and 1-2 in league play, while Northern Colorado improved to 16-19 and 2-1. This week's three-game set was the first Big Sky games of the season for both teams.
The Bears scored once in the first, six times in the second, and twice in the fourth. The game was stopped after the top of the fifth - just the second time Sacramento State has been mercy ruled this season.

Lafulafu Malepeai had half the Hornets' hits, finishing 2-for-3 while extending her hitting streak to eight games.

Karissa Avila had Sacramento State's other hits.
The Hornets used three pitchers in today's game, including
Alexa Ortiz (1.1 ip),
Keeli Smith (2.0 ip) and
Kyndal Williams (0.2 ip).
Sacramento State returns to action next week where it will play four road games. That includes Tuesday at Pacific (4 p.m.), and a three-game set at Weber State on April 3-4.
