GREELEY, Colo. -- Marissa Bertuccio threw a complete game, Lexie Webb hit her 15th home run and Sacramento State defeated Northern Colorado, 4-1, on Saturday afternoon at Gloria Rodriguez Field.

The Hornets (22-18, 6-3) take the three-game series, 2-1, after the two teams split a doubleheader yesterday. Sacramento State has now won all three of its Big Sky Conference series, 2-1, and improved to 6-3 in league play. That included a home series win vs. Portland State, and road series victory at Idaho State.

In today's game, Bertuccio (15-6) tossed her 15th complete game of the season, allowing just six hits and one run with a pair of strikeouts over seven innings. She lowered her ERA against Big Sky opposition to 1.42. The right-hander needs two more wins to become the seventh Sacramento State pitcher to win 17 games in a season during the program's Div. I era (1990-pres.).

Bertuccio stranded eight runners on base, including two in each of the first and second innings, and three more in the fourth. That included a strikeout with two outs and the bases loaded to end the fourth.

All four Hornet runs came in the second inning, as Webb led off with a solo homer to center field. The home run was her Big Sky-best 15th of the season. In fact, Sacramento State started the inning with five straight hits, including singles from Alondra Mejia, Nikki Barboza, Nevaeh Pinon and Gwen Ludwig. The Barboza single scored a run, and Kennedy Echols and Samantha Parish later followed with back-to-back sacrifice flies.

That was more than enough runs for Bertuccio, who needed 101 pitches in the complete game effort.

Ludwig and Barboza, both freshmen, finished with two hits. Barboza continued her tear, extending her hitting streak to seven games. During that stretch, the shortstop is batting .619 (13-for-21) with five multiple-hit games.

Sacramento State is back at home next week for five games. That includes the team's final non-conference games of the season on Tuesday - a doubleheader vs. Stanford at 1 p.m. The Hornets then jump back into Big Sky play for a three-game home series vs. Montana on Friday and Saturday.
