MALEPEAI NAMED ALL-WEST REGION AFTER HUGE SEASON

SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State senior outfielder Lafulafu Malepeai has been named third team all-West Region, it was announced today by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). 

Fresh off being named the Big Sky Conference's Player of the Year, the all-region nod for Malepeai was the first of her career. She played a major roll in the Hornets posting a 33-20 record, the most wins for the program since the 2006 season. The team also went 9-6 in league play, and reached the championship game of the Big Sky Tournament

Lafulafu Malepeai - Outfielder - Third Team all-West Region
• The Hornets' first all-region selection since 2024 when both Lewa Day and Marissa Bertuccio were named third team all-West Region
• Named Big Sky Player of the Year - just the third Hornet in program history to earn the award
• Also a unanimous first team all-conference selection
• Last season, she was named the Big Sky's Newcomer of the Year, and second team all-conference
• One of three Hornets to start all 53 games
• Hit .401 with 35 walks, nine stolen bases, 42 runs, 16 homers, 51 RBIs, a .772 slugging percentage, .510 on-base percentage and 1.282 ops.
• Ranked among the Big Sky's top five players in nine offensive categories, including first in walks, on-base percentage and OPS, second in home runs, RBIs and slugging percentage, third in batting average and hits, and fifth in runs scored.
• Had a 15-game hitting streak (March 17-April 17)
• Team-leading 21 multiple-hit games, and 12 multiple-RBI games
• Her 16 home runs and 51 RBIs are both second in Sacramento State single-season history
• Hit .531 (26-for-49) with runners in scoring position
• Her .393 career batting average and .492 on-base percentage are both the top marks in Sacramento State history
