WOMEN'S TENNIS FALLS ON THE ROAD AT CAL POLY

Box Score

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Cal Poly won the doubles point, and earned three straight set singles victories on the way to a 4-0 win over Sacramento State on Saturday afternoon at Mustang Tennis Complex.

Today marked the home opener for the Mustangs, who improved to 2-2. Sacramento State dropped to 0-5, and four of those losses have come on the road.

The Hornets used a singles lineup that included five underclassmen - two freshmen and three sophomores. That included sophomore Tsveti Yotova at No. 1, freshman Maddy Ferreros at No. 2, freshman Weronika Ejsmont at No. 3, sophomore Paige Alter at No. 4, junior Megan Tagaloa at No. 5, and sophomore Alexis Johnson at No. 6.

After Cal Poly won the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 2, the Mustangs got victories at Nos. 1, 3 and 5 singles. The matches at Nos. 2, 4 and 6 singles were halted because Cal Poly already had the necessary four points for the win.

The schedule is about to get a lot more home friendly for Sacramento State as the Hornets open a six-match homestand beginning on Feb. 11 vs. Nevada at 1 p.m. In fact, that Nevada match will begin a stretch that will see Sacramento State play 11 of their its 12 matches on campus.
