SACRAMENTO — Sacramento State had four players named to the Big Sky Volleyball all-conference team - two first teamers and two second teamers - as the Hornets were rewarded for finishing the regular season with a 10-6 league mark.
Middle blocker
Kalani Hayes and outside hitter
Bridgette Smith were named to the first team. In addition, setter
Ashtin Olin and middle blocker
Tiyanane Kamba-Griffin were selected to the second team. Smith has now been named first team two straight seasons, and Olin has accomplished the very rare feat of five straight seasons of second team accolades.
Hayes has earned all-league honors three straight years (second team the last two years), and Kamba-Griffin receives her first career all-conference mention.
Sacramento State (14-14, 10-6), the No. 4 seed, will open Big Sky Tournament play (Ogden, Utah) on Wednesday at noon PST, when it takes on No. 5 Montana in the quarterfinal round. The winner of that match will advance to the semifinals on Friday afternoon at the single elimination tournament. Sacramento State enters the tournament having won three of its last four matches.
