FARMINGTON, Utah — Sacramento State placed a conference-leading five student-athletes on the Big Sky men's golf all-conference teams, it was announced today. The group was led by Ethan Davidson who was named to the first team. Casey Leebrick and Joe Fowler were both selected to the second team while Riley Bell and Josh Diaz earned honorable mention.
Davidson averaged 73.76 in 21 rounds during the season in 21 rounds. He set his career best with 54-hole totals of 211 at Nick Watney Invitational and the Ka'anapali Collegiate. He finished among the top 15 in three tournaments, including a 12th-place finish at the Sacramento State Invitational. The sophomore was honorable mention a year ago.
Leebrick was the only member of the team to compete in all eight tournaments. The sophomore, who transferred from York College in Pennsylvania, ranked second on the team with an average of 73.63 in 24 rounds. He started his Sacramento State career by finishing in second place at the Golfweek Conference Challenge after shooting 72-70-67-209 to set his career bests for 18 and 54 holes. Leebrick finished the year with 10 rounds of 72 or better.
Fowler paced Sacramento State with a scoring average of 72.69 and had all 16 of his rounds range between 70 and 75. His best tournament came at the Bill Cullum Invitational where he shot 70-73-71-214. His first round score was his lowest of the season and his 54-hole total was the second best of his career.
Bell averaged 74.72 in six tournaments. He shot 68 in the second round of The Joust and hd a 54-hole total of 73-70-69-212 at the Ka'anapali Collegiate for his season lows. He best finish came at the Orange County Classic where he tied for sixth pace.
Diaz competed in five tournaments where he averaged 75.60 in 15 rounds. He started his year by shooting 70 in the first round of the Bill Cullum Invitational for his season best. His 54-hole low also came at that event after shooting 70-73-74-217. Diaz ended his season by tying for ninth place at the Sacramento State Invitational.
Sacramento State led all teams with five selections to the all-conference teams. The next closest was Weber State which had three.
