LINDSEY MOVES ON TO SECOND ROUND AT NCAA WEST PRELIMINARY

AUSTIN, Texas — Junior Andre Lindsey advanced to the second round of the men's 110-hurdles at the NCAA West Preliminary on Friday at Texas.

Lindsey ran 14.09 in the first of six heats and earned one of 24 berths into the second round which will take place on Saturday. The Stockton native's time was the 22nd fastest among the 48 athletes in the field. Earlier this month, he ran 14.05 to finish first at the Big Sky Outdoor Championships.

Senior Aric Walden narrowly missed advancing in the event as well. Walden ran 14.27 in the fifth heat to place 31st overall. The last qualifying time was 14.10.

The duo of Candice Dominguez and Elizabeth Venzon each participated in the women's high jump. Dominguez jumped 5-08.50 to tie for 30th place. She passed at the first height before a successful jump at 5-06.50 on her third try. She then needed three jumps to clear 5-8.50 but failed to get over at 5-10.50. Dominguez won the Big Sky title by clearing 5-10.50 two weeks ago at Hornet Stadium.

Venzon finished in 42nd place. The senior, cleared 5-04.50 on her first attempt of the day but missed on all three tries at 5-06.50.

Along with Lindsey, Sacramento State will have Darius Armstead, Jah Strange and Mohamed Abdullah compete in the men's triple jump.
