Box Score DAVIS, Calif. — In her first collegiate start, Sacramento State freshman right-hander Savanna Corr blanked UC Davis through seven innings, but the Hornets and Aggies remained scoreless until the game was halted due to darkness prior to the top of the eighth. The game will be resumed at a later date, as UC Davis does not have lights on its field.
Stats for the contest will not be official, and will not count, until the game is completed. Corr was incredible, allowing the Aggies just three hits with two walks and three strikeouts over seven innings. The Chino Hills, Calif., native faced just five batters over the minimum, threw 107 pitches, and had to pitch out of trouble in just the fourth and seventh innings. In fact, Corr did not allow a hit through the first three innings of the game.
Sacramento State, which fell in extra innings to CSU Bakersfield earlier in the day, had numerous opportunities to score against the Aggies but could not cash in.
The Hornets failed to score despite placing runners at first and second with no outs in the first inning, bases loaded with one out in the second, and a runner at second base with nobody out in the third. In fact, Sacramento State left six runners on base through the first three innings before a trio of UC Davis pitchers allowed the Hornets just one hit over the last four innings.
Sacramento State had hits from Zamari Hinton, Natalie Alas, Shelby Johnston, Sasha Margulies, Kayla Papez and Nikki Gialketsis. Every but player but Johnston hit safely in both games today.
When the game is resumed, Alas will lead off the top of the eighth inning for Sacramento State.
The Hornets return to action tomorrow for the second day of the three-day, five-game Aggie Kick-Off. Sacramento State will take on Santa Clara at 8:30 a.m., followed by Montana at 10:45 a.m.
