SACRAMENTO -- After opening the Big West Conference season with a pair of home sweeps, Sacramento State saw two of its players earn Big West Player of the Week accolades. Freshman Nikola Gamlin received the rookie honor, and junior Makenna Wiepert received setter honors.

Both players were instrumental in the Hornets posting 3-0 victories over both California Baptist and UC Riverside in the program's first-ever Big West matches. For Wiepert, she was named Big West Setter of the Week for the second consecutive week.

GAMLIN
• Averaged 2.40 kills per set to go with a .632 hitting percentage
• Had 12 kills and no errors in 19 attacks
• Also averaged 0.60 blocks per set
• 6 kills, .600 hit% (6-0-10), 3 blocks vs. California Baptist
• 6 kills, .667 hit% (6-0-9) vs. UC Riverside
• Has hit better than .550 in four straight matches
• Her .409 hit% is easily the top mark in the Big West

WIEPERT
• Averaged 11.50 assists, 2.50 digs, 0.67 aces and 0.67 blocks per set
• Hit .500 with four kills and zero errors in eight attacks
• Set the Hornet offense to a .407 hitting percentage
• 4 kills, 31 assists, 3 aces and 4 blocks vs. California Baptist
• 38 assists, 10 digs vs. UC Riverside
• Double-double was her eighth of the season
• Ranks second in the Big West in assists (8.96 aps) and fifth in aces (0.39 aps)

Sacramento State (7-6, 2-0) returns to action later this week at home on Thursday vs. Cal Poly and Saturday vs. UC Santa Barbara. Game times are 7 p.m.
