SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State and San Jose State have agreed to a six-game future football series which will see each team host three contests, it was announced today.
 
The first game of the series will come on Sept. 25, 2027 when the Spartans will visit Hornet Stadium for the first time. San Jose State will also become the first California FBS program to play at Sacramento State in program history.
 
After a two-year break, the teams will play five times in a seven-year span. That stretch begins with games at SJSU in 2030 and 2032. The series returns to Sacramento in 2034 and 2036 with a game in the Bay Area in 2035.
 
The Hornets and Spartans have met only twice in program history with game at SJSU in 2013 and 2024.
 
The MAC also announced this week that it will shift to a nine-game conference schedule beginning in 2028. The format of the schedule will be announced at a later date.
