SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State football team announced it will play a non-conference game at Cal on Aug. 28, 2027. The game will be the season-opener for both teams. Broadcast information and kickoff time will be announced at a later date.
 
The Hornets and Golden Bears have faced each other three previous times, most recently in 2021. However, the 2027 matchup will be the first with both teams competing at the FBS level.
 
Sacramento State previously announced it will play the second game of a home-and-home series at North Dakota State on Sept. 11, 2027.
