SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State's varsity eight has been named the West Coast Conference Crew of the Week for the second straight week, and third time this season.
Besides today, the Hornets' top boat also won the weekly accolade on April 21 and March 10.
Sacramento State posted a 3-1 dual record at the two-day Triton Invitational, hosted by UC San Diego in Chula Vista. That included victories over Gonzaga, UC San Diego and Portland. The Hornets opened the regatta by losing to San Diego, before running off three straight wins.Â
Each of the three victories came by more than six seconds, including a win that saw the Hornets post a 6:52.58, comfortably in front of Gonzaga's time of 6:59.10. Sacramento State's best time of the week was a 6:44.30 over 2,000 meters.
The Triton Invitational served as the team's final regular season races. The Hornets return to the water when they host the WCC Championship on Lake Natoma May 15-16.
