LOGAN, Utah — Kara Houghton and McKenna Carnesi tied for second place on bars to lead Sacramento State in a quad meet at Utah State on Monday night. The pair each scored season highs of 9.850.
 
Host, and 27^th-ranked Utah State, won the meet with a team score of 195.875. No. 27 Southern Utah was second at 195.525 while the Hornets (191.075) and Alaska Anchorage (188.250) completed the field.
 
Sacramento State started the night on beam where Kaitlyn Driessen led the team with a 9.775 which tied her for third place overall and matched her season high. The team then scored its highest event total of the evening on floor with a 48.475. Sophomore Lexi Frank led the team with a career-high 9.800 while Houghton added a 9.750 and redshirt freshman Emily Countryman scored a career-high 9.600.
 
Freshman Makayla Townsend had the high score for the Hornets on vault with a 9.725 with Frank close behind at 9.700. The team finished the event with a 48.075.
 
Along with the 9.850s from Carnesi and Houghton and bars, Townsend contributed a 9.700 to match her season high.
 
Sacramento State will return home for three consecutive meets beginning on Sunday, Feb. 15, against UC Davis at 2 p.m.
