SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State women's tennis team has made its return to the national rankings, entering this weekend's duals in Southern California ranked No. 68 in the nation according to the latest national poll released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Thursday.
It is the Hornets' first appearance in the Top 75 since April 22 of last season when they were ranked No. 75 and the highest that the team has reached since they were ranked No. 49 on Feb. 25 last year. They are the only Big Sky Conference school in this week's edition of the rankings.
Sacramento State was ranked for six weeks during the 2025 spring campaign — its first appearance in the ITA rankings in over a decade. The Hornets made their debut at No. 60 on Feb. 20 and was ranked for four straight weeks before dropping out and returning for two weeks in April at No. 75.
At 5-3 overall on the season, Sacramento State has already faced one nationally ranked squad in No. 11 Stanford on Feb. 9, coming within a couple of points of upsetting the perennial power Cardinal on the road. They have also faced a Hawai'i squad that is ranked No. 51 in the nation to start the week and will take on No. 52 Long Beach State (Feb. 21) and No. 22 San Diego State (Feb. 22) this weekend. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m. for both matches.
