OPPONENT PREVIEW

  • UC Davis enters with a 3-7 overall record and a scoring average of 193.365. The Aggies last competed on Feb. 6 where they finished in fourth place in a quad meet hosted by Boise State which included San Jose State and Oregon State.
  • Ameila Moneymaker leads the team on vault (9.760), bars (9.805) and in the all-around (38.935). Moneymaker is also third among Aggies on beam (9.710) and floor (9.660). Ayumi Oshiro has the highest scoring average on beam at 9.775 and Avah Reichow on floor at 9.800.
  • This is the second of four meetings between the two teams this season. On Jan. 23, UC Davis scored 194.775 to edge the Hornets by 0.65 points. That victory moved the Aggies ahead, 63-62, in the all-time series. The other meetings this year will be Mar. 8 at UC Davis and Mar. 21 at the MPSF Championships in Cedar City, Utah.

A LOOK AT THE LAST MEET

  • Kara Houghton and McKenna Carnesi tied for second place on bars to lead Sacramento State in a quad meet at Utah State on Monday night. The pair each scored season highs of 9.850.

The team then scored its highest event total of the evening on floor with a 48.475. Sophomore Lexi Frank led the team with a career-high 9.800 while Houghton added a 9.750 and redshirt freshman Emily Countryman scored a career-high 9.600.

GOING TO TOWN

  • Competing on vault for just the third time this season, true freshman Makayla Townsend led the team on vault with a 9.725 at the Utah State quad — topping her previous best of 9.675. Townsend also scored a season-high tying 9.700 on bars.
  • Townsend wasn't the only Hornet underclassmen to have success at the meet. Sophomore Lexi Frank paced the team on floor with a 9.800 to tie for seventh place overall. Frank performed five exhibitions a year ago before breaking into the lineup this season in four of the team's five meets. Prior to Monday night, her best score was 9.650 in the season opener. Fellow sophomore Kaitlyn Driessen had the high score on the team on beam, scoring 9.775. Driessen's season average of 9.740 is the best among Hornets this season.
  • McKenna Carnesi (in her second competitive season) tied Kara Houghton for the team lead on bars with each scoring 9.850. While Carnesi has been in the lineup since the start of the year, she had not competed on bars during her first two collegiate seasons.
  • Redshirt freshman Emily Countryman, who was competing in the floor lineup for just the second time this season, added a career-best 9.600.

WINNERS CIRCLE

  • Behind a career-high 9.825, Frank finished in a four-way tie for first place at the Boise State quad. Frank's win made her the ninth member of the current team to at least share an event title during their career. She is the sixth current Hornet to record a win on beam, joining Sarah Lutrel (eight times), Athena Jones (twice), Rylin Zimmerman (twice), Kara Houghton (once) and Kaitlyn Driessen (once).
  • This season, Sacramento State has had at least one individual winner on each event as well as the all-around. Along with Frank's win on beam, Sarah Lutrel has won on vault, beam and in the all-around; Jillianne Lastra on bars and Kara Houghton on floor.

ADD IT UP

  • Through the early portion of the 2026 season, Sacramento State has shown it has the ability to contend with the top tier teams in the country. Taking the top event scores in the four meets, the Hornets have the ability to score at least 195.300. This season, Sacramento State has already scored 48.750 on vault, 48.550 on bars, 49.050 on beam and 48.950 on floor.
