1. Come For The Game, Stay For the Concert
Saturday will be 916 Community Night at Hornet Stadium. Throughout the game, Sacramento State will recognize all that is great about the Capital region. Following the postgame fireworks, hip-hop artist DDG will perform a concert for those in attendance.
Â
2. Add Another To The List
Central Arkansas will become the 82
nd all-time opponent for Sacramento State football when the two teams meet on Saturday. The Bears are the second new foe in as many weeks for the Hornets, following the matchup against Mercyhurst, and are the first opponent from Arkansas. Among the teams Sacramento State has faced include 18 which no longer sponsor football.
Â
3. Keeping It 300
The Hornets are coming off an impressive 349 rushing yard-performance against Mercyhurst last Saturday. The game was just the 21st in which Sacramento State surpassed 300 rushing yards since moving to Div. I in 1993 (351 total games, 5.9%). Even rarer is the fact the Hornets pulled off the feat without having an individual go over 100 rushing yards in the game. Sacramento State was led by
Damian Henderson II who had 98 rushing yards while
Rodney Hammond, Jr., added 81 yards and four others had at least 28 rushing yards. The only other previous occurrence of the Hornets having 300 rushing yards without a 100-yard rusher in the Div. I-era came in 2017 when the team had 315 against UC Davis led by 92 from Elijah Dotson.
Â
4. Make It Clear
Hornet Stadium will have aÂ
clear bag policy in place this season. Bags should not exceed 12" long by 12" high by 6" wide. Small strapless bags not exceeding 4.5" by 6.5" will be allowed.
Â
5. How To Follow The Action
Hornet football returns to KMAX 31 and ESPN+ this season with Jason Ross and Darren Arbet calling the action. The game can also be heard on ESPN 1320 AM and the Audacy app with Dave Lewis (play-by-play), Steve McElroy (analyst) and Danny Sullivan (sideline).
