SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State cross country team will start its 2026 season by returning to the USF Invitational at Golden Gate Park on Friday. The women's 6K race starts at 2 p.m. with the men's 8K race beginning an hour later.

Last season, the Hornet women finished in third place and the men were seventh in the season opener.
Anna Harmon paced the women with a 6K time of 21:47.4 to place 15
th overall.
Brandon Moreno had the top time for the men, completing the 8K in 25:30.1 to take 40
th place.

This week's meet is the first of four before the Big Sky Championships. The team will run at the Kim Duyst Twilight Invitational in Turlock, Calif., the UC Riverside Invitational and the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational. Montana State hosts the Big Sky Championships on Nov. 1 before the team comes home for the NCAA Div. I West Regional at Haggin Oaks GC on Nov. 14.

The Sacramento State women were picked seventh in the Big Sky preseason coaches poll while the men's team was tabbed eighth.
