SACRAMENTO, Calif.— Sacramento State running back
Jamar Curtis was named to the Stats Perform Preseason FCS All-America team, it was announced today.
Curtis, who came to the Hornets last spring, is the leading returning rusher in the FCS following three seasons at Lafayette. During his time with the Leopards, Curtis rushed for 3,064 yards and 32 touchdowns, including a pair of 1,000 yards seasons. The Waldorf, Md., native has been a two-time finalist for the Walter Payton Award and was the Patriot League Offensive Player of Year in 2024.
During that season, he rushed for 1,139 yards in 12 games while scoring 19 touchdowns and ranked 19th in the FCS with 115.7 all-purpose yards per game. Curtis had seven games with at least 100 rushing yards, including a season-high 156 against Sacred Heart. He also scored touchdowns in seven games with a high of three against Colgate, Marist and Monmouth.
As a sophomore in 2023, he rushed for 1,460 yards and 15 touchdowns on the way to earning second-team FCS All-America honors from the Associated Press and Stats Perform. His yardage effort set the school single-season record and he rushed for at least 100 yards in eight games, including a pair of 200-yard performances. His season was highlighted by a 229-yard, two-touchdown performance at Holy Cross and a 204-yard effort against Fordham.
Curtis was one of only eight running backs named to the Stats Perform Preseason All-America team and one of three from the Big Sky Conference.
Sacramento State will open its 2025 season on Saturday, Aug. 30, at South Dakota State. The team's first home game will come on Sept. 13 against Mercyhurst. Season tickets can be purchased
