1. Numbers Can Be Deceiving
While Montana has dominated the all-time series, winning 21 of the 25 games, Sacramento State has taken control of the series in recent years. The Hornets have won three of the last four overall and three of the last four in Sacramento. The last time Montana won at Hornet Stadium came in 2013 when the Griz claimed a 51-48 victory in overtime.

2. Milestone Moment
With the help of three-consecutive 100-yard rushing games, senior
Rodney Hammond, Jr., surpassed 2,000 career rushing yards. Hammond leads the Hornets with 504 rushing yards this season and is just 43 yards shy of matching his career single-season high. Prior to coming to Sacramento State, he rushed for 1,542 yards in parts of four seasons at Pitt. The current Hornet roster now boasts two players with at least 2,000 career rushing yards as
Jamar Curtis has 3,111.

3. Facing The Best
Facing one of the highest-ranked teams in the FCS is nothing new for Sacramento State. The Hornets have matched up against a top-five school at least once in the last seven years. The team has twice recorded wins over a program ranked fifth in the Stats Perform media poll during that stretch, including a 28-21 win at Montana in 2021. The Grizzlies enter tonight's game ranked fourth in both the FCS coaches and media poll.

4. Showing Your Support
Last week's Homecoming crowd of 20,022 was the third-largest all-time for Sacramento State at Hornet Stadium and the largest not against UC Davis. Through four home games this season, the Hornets are averaging 15,131 fans. Measures have also been made this week to enhance the fan experience, including additional security, restrooms, ushers and ticket takers.
Â
5. How To Follow The Action
The game will be televised on ESPN2 with Chuckie Kempf (play-by-play) and Darius Walker (analyst). The contest is one of four Big Sky Conference games this season that will be shown on an ESPN network. Hornet fans can also tune in to ESPN 1320 and the Audacy app to listen to Jason Ross, Steve McElroy and Danny Sullivan with the radio call.
