SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State 12th-year head softball coach
Lori Perez announced right-handed pitcher Ella Ferguson has signed a National Letter of Intent, and will enroll at the University as a freshman in the fall.
Ferguson joins
corner infielder Kira Griffin and shortstop/utility Ava Medellin, as the three signees who will join the Hornets in the fall.
Ella Ferguson • Fr. • RHP • Tumwater, Wash.
• A 5-foot-6 pitcher from Tumwater, Wash.
• Entering fourth season on the varsity team at Tumwater High School
• Will graduate from Tumwater HS in the spring
• Already a three-time first team all-state, all-area and all-conference selection
• In 419.2 career innings, she has compiled 674 strikeouts
• Averaging 11.2 strikeouts per seven innings with a 1.75 career ERA
• Led the T-Birds to a 2022 state championship, and a 2024 state runner-up finish
• As a freshman, in the 2022 state championship game, Ferguson pitched a complete game and hit a three-run homer
• Helped the team to a pair of conference championships, and a second place finish
• Played travel ball for the Northwest Bullets
Perez quote: "I am excited to welcome Ella and her family to the Hornet softball family. She is a strong and feisty pitcher who has good movement on her ball. Ella can start games, and come in late to shut teams down. Her arsenal of pitches will help complete our pitching staff for the 2026 season. Ella competes for NW Bullets, a strong softball organization led by Tony Campos and Dennis Muir."
