SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State 12th-year head softball coach
Lori Perez announced two high school seniors have signed National Letters of Intent, and will enroll at the University as freshmen next fall.
The signing class consists of corner infielder Kira Griffin and shortstop/utility Ava Medellin.
"I am excited to welcome Ava and Kira to our program," Perez said. "They come from great families who have supported them throughout their journey. They are both good students in the classroom and will bring high level of travel ball experience to our team next fall."

• A 5-foot-4 corner infielder from Sacramento
• Entering fourth season on the varsity team at John F. Kennedy High School in Sacramento
• Will graduate from Kennedy HS this spring
• Entering her third season as team captain
• A three-time all-Metropolitan Conference selection
• In 55 career games, she is hitting .482 (82-for-170) with 74 runs, 21 stolen bases, 31 doubles, five homers and 58 RBIs
• Averaging 1.3 runs scored and 1.1 RBIs per game
• Has hit better than .500 each of the last two seasons, including .521 as a junior and .509 as a sophomore
• Hit safely in all but three games as a junior, and all but four games as a sophomore
• Plays travel ball for LTG Lions

• A 5-foot-2 shortstop/utility from Hayward, Calif.
• Entering fourth season on the varsity team at James Logan High School in Union City, Calif.
• Will graduate from James Logan HS this spring
• A two-time all-conference selection, she has helped the Colts to three straight Mission Valley Athletic League titles, a 61-13-1 overall record, and 40-2 league mark
• Career numbers in 64 games: .438 batting average with 67 runs, 18 stolen bases, 12 doubles, 13 triples, 10 homers, 46 RBIs and 1.407 ops
• Last season as a junior, she hit .480 (36-for-75) with 23 extra base hits, a .536 on-base percentage and 1.066 slugging percentage
• Hit safely in all but five games as a junior
• Plays travel ball for Suncats Jimenez
