ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Sacramento State gymnastics team recorded its season-high score for the second-straight meet and began a busy weekend with a final total of 195.150 on Friday night against Alaska Anchorage. The host Seawolves finished with a 193.325.

The Hornets never trailed in the meet and accounted for at least a share of the individual title in all four events as well as the all-around. Sacramento State's total surpassed its mark from last Sunday by five-hundredths of a point.Â

The night began with the Hornets on bars where the team accounted for four of the top five individual finishers.
Kara Houghton and
Hannah Sitzman each scored 9.850 to tie for first place. The score matched a season-best for Houghton while Sitzman matched her career best.
Emma Morgenthaler tied for third with a season-high 9.825 and
Athena Jones was fifth after receiving a 9.775. The team completed the rotation with an event total of 48.975 to open a .825 point lead over UAA.

Sacramento State saw its advantage shrink in the second rotation as the Seawolves scored 48.450 on bars compared to a 48.375 on vault from the Hornets.
Rylin Zimmerman claimed the individual title with a season-high tying 9.775.
Sarah Lutrel and Morgenthaler  were part of a four-way tie for second with each receiving a 9.700.

The separation in the meet occurred during the final two rotations. The Hornets totaled 48.800 on floor to gain nearly a half-point back against Alaska Anchorage's efforts on beam. Lutrel led the team, and tied for first place along with UAA's Montana Fairbairn, with a 9.850.
Athena Jones was second at 9.825 while
Grace Gilman finished in fourth place a tenth of a point back of Jones.

Sacramento State sealed the meet with another strong effort on beam. The team had all six of its gymnasts score 9.725 or better and each place among the top six positions en route to a team total of 49.000. Jones led the way with a career-high 9.875 to finish first on beam for the second time this season. Lutrel was second at 9.825 while Morgenthaler completed the sweep of the podium with a 9.800 to take third place. Freshman
Kaitlyn Driessen was fourth at 9.775 and Houghton and Gilman tied for sixth place with each scoring 9.725.

For the first time this season, Sacramento State was represented by a pair of all-arounders in a meet. Morgenthaler claimed her second all-around title this year with a four-event total of 39.025. Lutrel was a close second at 38.925 in her first all-around of 2025.

The two teams will square off again on Sunday beginning at 3 p.m. PT.
