BIG SECOND HALF PUSHES IDAHO STATE PAST WOMEN’S SOCCER

POCATELLO, Idaho — After both teams battled through a scoreless first 45 minutes, host Idaho State put home three goals in the second half on Thursday afternoon to lift the homestanding Bengals to a 3-0 win over Sacramento State at Davis Field in Pocatello, Idaho.

The loss snapped a four-match (2-0-2) unbeaten run for the Hornets in Pocatello, while Idaho State earned its first win in the series overall since 2022.

Junior Ellie Farber finished with a match-high six shot attempts for Sacramento State, putting four of those on frame, as the Hornets put seven of their 13 attempts total on goal for the match, but came up empty. Farber's six shot attempts tied her career high set against UC Santa Barbara on Aug. 22 last season, while her four attempts on goal were a new high bar.

The Bengals finished with a 16-13 shot advantage, including a 14-7 lead in the second half alone, and put half of their attempts in the second half on goal en route to the shutout.

Idaho State broke up the shutout in the 56th minute on a goal by Samantha Fenske and added a second goal just seven minutes later as Stephanie Roper's individual effort doubled its lead. The Bengals added the exclamation point in the 82nd minute on a goal by Lacie Poll for the final score.

Sacramento State returns to the field on Sunday morning (Oct. 12) at 11 a.m., taking on Weber State in Ogden, Utah.
