PALMATIER STOPS 10 SHOTS, BUT WOMEN’S SOCCER FALLS AT WEBER STATE

OGDEN, Utah. — Junior goalkeeper Izzy Palmatier finished with 10 saves in net while facing a barrage of 32 shot attempts by host Weber State, but Sacramento State could not muster up any offense to counter the Wildcat attack, falling by a 6-0 score on Sunday afternoon at Wildcat Soccer Field in Ogden, Utah.

The 10 saves on Sunday marked the fourth time that Palmatier has finished with double-digit stops in her career, falling just one shot of her career high of 11 set against Cal Poly last season and matched earlier this year in a victory against San Jose State.

Coupled with her four saves against Idaho State on Thursday, Palmatier's weekend total gave her 249 career saves and moved her to within two of Amy Seely's (2000-02) total for third place on the school's all-time list.

Homestanding Weber State scored four times in the opening half, finding the back of the net four minutes apart in the 18th and 22nd minutes to open the scoring, then adding goals in the 36th and 43rd minutes to carry a dominating lead into the locker room at the break. The Wildcats then capped the scoring in the 54th and 83rd minutes as five different players found the back of the net and seven different players finished with points.

Sacramento State's best chance to break onto the scoresheet came in the 24th minute as junior Tea Reyes nearly halved the Weber State lead with an attempt inside the six, but her shot caught too much of the left post in traffic and was eventually smothered by the Wildcats' goalkeeper.

The Hornets play only one match next week, hitting the road for the final time in the regular season to take on Montana on Sunday (Oct. 19) at 11 a.m. PT
