SAN JOSE, Calif. — Freshman Kaitlyn Driessen finished in first place on beam and the Sacramento State gymnastics team placed third out of four teams on Sunday afternoon at San Jose State. Boise State finished first with a team score of 195.575 and was followed by the host Spartans (194.500). The Hornets were third at 193.000 while UC Davis placed fourth at 192.600.
 
Sacramento State opened the meet on beam and scored 48.575 during the rotation to sit in third place. The team was led by Driessen who received a 9.850 in her first routine in the lineup this season. Athena Jones added a 9.775 to tie for fourth place and Emma Morgenthaler tied for 11^th with a 9.700.
 
The Hornets struggled in the second rotation, scoring 47.150 on floor. The bright spot for Sacramento State was Sarah Lutrel who received a 9.775 to tie for fifth place.
 
The team bounced back in the third rotation with a 48.625 on vault. The Hornets had five scores between 9.700 and 9.775 and were led by Morgenthaler who received a 9.775 to tie for fifth place. Rylin Zimmerman and Sarah Lutrel each scored 9.725 to tie for 13^th place.
 
Sacramento State closed the meet with a 48.650 on bars to secure the team's 26^th consecutive meet with a score of at least 193.000. The team had a great start with Chloe Cohen scoring 9.800 and Hannah Sitzman 9.825 in the first two positions. Sitzman tied for third place in the meet while Cohen tied for seventh.
 
The Hornets will get a second chance at the Broncos as the team will travel to Boise, Idaho for a three-team meet on Friday night.
