ABOUT THE EAGLES
• Eastern Washington enters the weekend with a 5-10 overall record and a 1-2 mark in Big Sky play
• The Eagles have won three of their last five, but snapped a brief two-game winning streak with a 78-49 win over Portland State on Thursday for their first league victory of the year
• EWU is 5-2 on its home floor, having won its last three games at Reese Court, but is a combined 0-8 in games away from Cheney, Wash., this year
• Graduate guard Peyton Howard, a transfer from Seattle U, is the team's leading scorer at 14.1 ppg — the only Eagle in double figures — while dishing out a team-high 56 assists and shooting .409 from the field
• Freshman forward Kourtney Grossman leads the team on the boards at 8.4 rpg to go with 8.3 ppg, shooting .402 from the field

SERIES NOTABLES
• Eastern Washington leads the all-time series with Sacramento State, 39-23, dating back to the first recorded meeting during the 1986-87 campaign
• The Eagles have won the last three straight meetings after the Hornets had won three straight in the series
• EWU swept the regular season series from Sacramento State in 2023-24, posting a 60-33 win in Northern California before a 72-59 triumph in Cheney, Wash.
• The Eagles are 17-10 on their home floor against the Hornets, winning the last two after Sacramento State won three straight trips from 2019-22
• All but three of the 62 all-time meetings have come as members of the Big Sky, with EWU holding a 35-20 advantage in the series in conference games

HORNETS ON THE BREAK
• Saturday's contest puts an end to a five-game road swing for the Hornets, who have not played at home since a Dec. 15 win over San Jose State
• The Hornets will go 32 days between home games until the tip-off against Northern Arizona on Jan. 16
• Senior Katie Peneueta tied her career high with 11 rebounds against Idaho, adding six points and blocking three shots
• Peneueta's three swats against the Vandals gave her 11 for the season — 10 of those coming in the last three games — and tied her with teammate Brooklyn Taylor for the team lead
• Following Thursday's performance Peneueta now has 74 blocks for her career, breaking a tie with former teammate Isnelle Natabou (2021-23) and moving her past Natasha Torgerson (2009-13) for sixth place on the school's all-time list
• With 26 more blocks, Peneueta would become only the sixth player to notch 100 for a career and the first since Kennedy Nicholas finished with 173 from 2016-20
• Thanks to her 11 points at Idaho, senior Jaydia Martin has now finished in double figures in each of her last  nine games, 10 of her last 11, and 11 of 15 games overall
• During her current run, Martin is averaging 16.9 ppg, 4.8 rpg, and 2.8 apg while shooting .472 (60-for-127) from the field
• Junior Benthe Versteeg continues to lead the Big Sky in both total assists (78) and assists per game (5.6 apg) entering Saturday's games, adding four more helpers to her total after Thursday's game at Idaho
• Versteeg has 31 assists in her last four games, averaging 7.75 apg in that span
• She has 316 assists for her career, moving her past Justyce Dawson (2014-18) and into fifth place on the school's all-time list, needing 57 more helpers to match Julie Wastell (373 from 1995-99) for fourth
• After playing all 45 minutes of the overtime victory over Portland State on Jan. 4, sophomore Lina Falk didn't take a break in Thursday's game at Idaho, going all 40 minutes against the Vandals
• Junior Fatoumata Jaiteh finished with a team-high four steals at Idaho on Thursday, matching her season high set against UC San Diego on Nov. 7 and notching the sixth four-steal performance by a Hornet this season
• Meanwhile, Martin's three steals against the Vandals marked her eighth multi-steal game of the year, second only to Versteeg and her nine such performances
