EUGENE, Ore. — Brandon Moreno set a personal best time in the finals of the men's 800 at the USATF U20 Championships on Thursday at historic Hayward Field in Oregon. Moreno ran 1:50.06 which was nearly a second better than his previous best of 1:50.55 set at the Causeway Track Classic earlier this season.
The Sacramento native, who recently completed his freshman season with the Hornets, finished in eighth place in the meet on Friday — one spot ahead of his qualifying position. During the season, Moreno set the school indoor record in the mile with a time of 4:07.75. He also had the third-fastest indoor 3K in program history after running 8:24.94. During the outdoor season, Moreno placed eighth at the Big Sky Championships in the 800 and recorded the sixth-fastest time in school history in the event.
