MEN’S BASKETBALL DROPS ROAD GAME AT IDAHO STATE

POCATELLO, Idaho -- Sacramento State was limited to season lows in points (40) and field goal percentage (30%) on the way to a 68-40 loss at Idaho State on Thursday evening.

The Bengals (10-14, 5-6) shot 54% from the field, and limited the Hornets to 16 points in the first half and 24 in the second half. Idaho State opened the game on a 14-4 run and never looked back, as the Hornets' lone lead was 2-0 early in the contest.

The two teams split the season series as the Hornets (6-18, 2-9) defeated the Bengals, 66-64, at home on Jan. 13.

The Hornets used 10 players in tonight's game, with nine of them cracking the scoring column. Of the 10 players, five were freshmen and one was a sophomore. That included starting three freshmen (Emil Skytta, Alex Kovatchev, Bowyn Beatty) for the first time this season.

Leading the way was Beatty who finished with seven points and six rebounds. It marked his seventh straight game with at least four rebounds.

Kovatchev added six points and five rebounds, and Duncan Powell posted six points and three boards. Skytta, Zee Hamoda and Michael Wilson each had five points.

Sacramento State returns to action on Saturday night at Weber State. Tip is 6 p.m. PT.
