SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State offensive lineman
Jackson Slater and quarterback
Carson Conklin were both recognized as All-Americans, it was announced today.
Â
Slater earned first team All-America honors from the Associated Press and Stats Perform. The senior rounded out his career by being named first team all-Big Sky Conference for the third consecutive season. Slater started 44 consecutive games for the team before an injury ended his 2024 season. During the year, he did not surrender a sack and was ranked as the fourth-best guard in the FCS by Pro Football Focus.
Â
Conklin was one of just two quarterbacks named to the Stats Perform FCS Freshman All-American team. During his first full season leading the Hornet offense, Conklin recorded 261 completions, 2,876 passing yards and 28 passing touchdowns — leading all FCS freshmen in each stat. The Yorba Linda, Calif., native moved into second place in school single-season history for touchdown passes, ranks fourth in completions and yards and sixth in completion percentage while setting the program record by a freshman in each category. Conklin's 28 TD passes were the seventh most in the FCS during the year and he had two or more scores in eight games while throwing for at least 300 yards in four contests.
Â
The honors are the latest in a long list of accolades for both players. Slater was named a third team All-American by the AP in 2022 and was a second team selection by Phil Steele last season. He has also been selected to the play in the East-West Shrine Bowl on Jan. 30, 2025 in Arlington, Texas.
Â
Conklin finished in third place for the Jerry Rice Award which goes to the top freshman in the FCS. He also selected as a Freshman All-American by FCS Football Central.
