MORAGA, Calif. -- The Sacramento State final week of non-conference play got off to a slow start on Thursday evening, falling to host Saint Mary's by a 4-0 score in Moraga, Calif.
The loss was the third straight for the Hornets, who fell to 2-5-1 overall heading into their non-conference finale on Sunday (Sept. 17) against California Baptist. The Gaels, who led by only a single goal at the break before exploding for three scores in the second half, improved to 6-2-1 overall with the win.

Saint Mary's was on the board first thanks to a penalty kick in the 24th minute after the Hornets were whistled for a foul in the box and the score remained that way through the break before the Gaels tacked on scores in the 52nd, 59th, and 84th minutes. Briana Salvetti had two of those scores, while Jensen posted an assist on her team's third goal for a three-point night.
Freshman Izzy Palmatier (69 minutes) finished with three saves in net before giving way to senior Mia Shalit, who came on to finish the final 21 minutes and make a pair of saves.
The Gaels finished with a 24-6 shot advantage, including a 10-2 lead in shots on goal.
Sacramento State will kick-off against the Lancers at 1 p.m. to close out the weekend on Sunday, saluting its seniors prior to the match as part of a mid-season "Senior Day" celebration. It will be only the third meeting between the Hornets and CBU, with the Lancers leading the series by a 1-0-1 count.
