FOOTBALL RETURNS TO KMAX-31, ESPN+ AND ESPN 1320 FOR 2023 SEASON

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A record nine Sacramento State football games will be available on linear television during the 2023 season. Along with the television package, all 11 regular season Hornet games can also be heard on ESPN 1320 AM.

Sacramento State has partnered with KMAX-31 for the fourth consecutive season, making the games viewable throughout the market on numerous platforms. The station will televise four home football games beginning with the season opener on Sept. 9 against Texas A&M-Commerce. KMAX-31 will also air games at Idaho and Montana in battles against a pair of preseason top 25 teams.

ESPN2 will return to Sacramento State for the second consecutive season as the Hornets welcome Montana State on Oct. 21. Sacramento State is the only Big Sky Conference school to host a game on ESPN2 the last two years.

The remainder of the television schedule includes a Sept. 16 game at Stanford which will air on the Pac-12 Network. The Causeway Classic at UC Davis on Nov. 18 will be televised on a local station.

"After a record setting 2022 regular season that concluded with a third consecutive Causeway Cup and Big Sky Championship in front of 23,073 fans at Hornet Stadium, the interest in Hornet Football for the 2023 season is at an all-time high," Sacramento State Director of Athletics Mark Orr said. "We are very proud continue our partnership with KMAX-31 to televise live Hornet football that exposes Sacramento State to millions of homes in the Sacramento/Stockton/Modesto area. Along with an ESPN package that includes second consecutive year of an ESPN2 broadcast, Hornet fans across the nation will have plenty of opportunities to watch our talented student-athletes."

All games with the exception of the Stanford and Montana State contests can be seen on ESPN+. The games are part of a package with the Big Sky Conference allowing for hundreds of league games from multiple sports to be streamed throughout the season.

Jason Ross and former Hornet Darren Arbet will provide the commentary for the home games aired on KMAX 31. Ross will also handle the play-by-play alongside Steve McElroy (color) and Danny Sullivan (sideline) for all Sacramento State away football games on ESPN 1320. Dave Lewis will call the action with McElroy and Sullivan for the home games on radio.
