CHICAGO NATIVE AYANNA JACKSON SIGNS WITH WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

SACRAMENTO -- Ayanna Jackson becomes the latest standout to sign a National Letter of Intent with the Sacramento State women's basketball program, committing to continue her academic and athletic career with the Hornets, Head Coach Aaron Kallhoff announced on Thursday.

"Ayanna is a proven winner on and off the floor who will impact the game at both ends of the floor for us," Kallhoff said. "We look forward to welcoming her into the Hornet Family and I can't wait to coach her."

Jackson, a 6-foot-2 forward from Chicago, Ill., was a four-year letter winner at Example Academy in Frankfort, Illinois. She played club basketball for a number of teams, winning nationals at the Division II level in 2018 and adding a state and Division I nationals title in 2019. In 2022, she helped lead Example Academy to the 2022 Independent School National Championship.

Off the court, Jackson was a standout student, earning honor roll honors and serving as class valedictorian this year. She intends to major in criminal justice at Sacramento State with aspirations set on becoming an FBI agent after graduation.

Jackson is the latest commitment for Kallhoff since being named head coach, joining BYU transfer Sophia Lee, France's Célestine Segrétain, and Skyline College transfer Seilala Lautaimi. The quartet joins the program's four fall signees: Paula Haw, Lina Falk, Summah Hanson, and Sofia Alonso, for the 2023-24 campaign.
