Box Score OGDEN, Utah -- Sacramento State held a 3-1 lead, but Weber State stormed back to win the final three singles matches on the way to a 4-3 victory over the Hornets on Wednesday afternoon at the Ogden Athletic Club.
Prior to today, the Hornets (10-4, 3-1) had won four straight, and nine of their last 10 matches. In addition, Sacramento State suffered its first Big Sky Conference loss of the season. Weber State (9-7, 3-0) remained perfect in Big Sky play, and home matches (4-0).
In a outcome that could have gone either way, every singles match was close except at No. 6 where the Hornets'
Rudolfs Aksenoks won by a 6-4, 6-0 score.
Of the other five singles matches, two went to three sets, and the other three involved one set ending in a tiebreaker. The Hornets jumped out to a 1-0 lead after winning the doubles points behind victories from the No. 1 team of

Mate Voros (6-3) and No. 3
Jan Silva/
Ori Maior (6-3).
The Hornets got singles wins from Aksenoks and Keki (7-6, 7-5 at No. 1) to take a 3-1 lead. However, Weber State would win three straight extremely close singles matches to grab the win. The four Hornet singles losses included Voros at No. 2 (4-6, 6-1, 6-3),
Adam Chodur at No. 3 (7-5, 7-6), Silva at No. 4 (6-4, 7-6) and Maior at No. 5 (6-4, 3-6, 6-4).
Silva saw his seven-match singles winning streak come to an end while Maior (5) and Voros (4) also had singles winning streaks come to a close.
The Hornets are back in action Friday morning in Pocatello at 10 a.m. PT against Idaho State.
