Box Score SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State won all six singles matches in straight sets, and easily handled Eastern Washington, 7-0, in Big Sky Conference action Friday afternoon on campus.
The Hornets (10-3, 3-0) have now won four straight, and nine of their last 10. The 10-3 record is the team's best 13-match start since the 2007 season. In addition, the Hornets are now 8-0 at home for the first time since 2010. The team has also won its first three Big Sky matches for the first time since 2017.
Despite playing without its top player (
Mark Keki - flu), Sacramento State quickly disposed of an Eagles team that dropped to 3-8 overall and 0-3 in league play.
Mate Voros (No. 1),
Adam Chodur (No. 2),
Jan Silva (No. 3),
Ori Maior (No. 4),
Rudolfs Aksenoks (No. 5) and
Jiri Novak (No. 6) each won in straight sets. In the process, Silva won his seventh straight singles match while Maior won his fifth straight and Voros was victorious in his fourth consecutive match.
Dating back to last year, the Hornets have now won the doubles point in 29 of their last 36 matches. The duos of Silva/Voros (No. 1) and Chodur/Novak (No. 2) were both victorious. Maior and
Hayden Rand had their match stopped at No. 3 because Sacramento State had already clinched the point.
The Hornets are back in action next week for a pair of Big Sky road matches. The team plays at Weber State on Wednesday mornning, and at Idaho State on Friday morning.
