MEN'S BASKETBALL CONCLUDES HOMESTAND SATURDAY AFTERNOON VS. IDAHO

GAME PREVIEW

• Sacramento State (12-11, 5-5) will play the fourth and final leg of its season-long four game homestand on Saturday vs. Idaho (8-16, 2-9). Tip at the Nest is 2 pm.
• Saturday is Black Excellence Day, and the Hornets' Equality and Inclusion Game.
• The Hornets suffered their most lopsided home loss on Thursday, an 82-63 defeat to Eastern Washington. That was the Eagles' 13th straight win, which is the longest active winning streak in the nation. The Hornets led by a point at halftime.
• Sacramento State is 1-2 on its current homestand, and 8-2 inside the Nest. After winning its first eight home games of the season (the second longest streak in program history), the Hornets have dropped two straight to the top two teams in the Big Sky (EWU, MSU).
• Of the Hornets' five conference losses, four went down to the final minute. Each of those four were decided by seven points or less, until Thursday's defeat.
• The Hornets' 12 overall victories have already surpassed their win total from a season ago when the team finished 11-18.
• The Hornets are one win shy of matching their Big Sky win total from last year (6-14).
• David Patrick owns the most wins (12) by a first-year Sacramento State head coach during the program's Div. I era (1991-pres.).
• Sacramento State defeated Idaho in overtime (85-83) in Moscow on Jan. 5. The game featured 14 lead changes, 11 ties and neither team led by six points the entire way. It also was a battle of big men as Callum McRae had 27 points and 17 rebounds, and the Vandals' Isaac Jones finished with 42 points, 12 rebounds, four blocks and three steals.
• Do not led Idaho's record fool you. They are 2-9 in league, but seemingly lose every game close. The Vandals have lost four straight, each by eight points or less. That includes Thursday's 69-66 loss at Portland State. In fact, each of Idaho's last six games have been decided by eight points or less. That includes a 74-70 home win against second place Montana St.
• The Vandals are led by fourth-year head coach Zac Claus, who was an assistant coach at Sacramento State from 2002-05. Claus is still very popular at Sacramento State among athletics department staff members who were around during his Hornet tenure.
• Idaho is 3-9 on the road, and 1-5 in league play. The one win came at NAU (88-83).
• In a series that dates back to 1968, the Vandals were 13-1 against the Hornets at one point, but Sacramento State is 10-8 against Idaho dating back to 2014. The Hornets have won each of the last three meetings inside the Nest.
• The Vandals have two of the top three scorers in conference play. That includes junior forward Isaac Jones (2nd at 20.4 ppg) and senior guard Divant'e Moffitt (3rd at 20.0 ppg). The next closest Vandal in conference scoring is Yusef Salih at 7.3 ppg.
