Box Score SACRAMENTO -- Playing for the second consecutive day, Sacramento State won the doubles point and all six singles matches to beat Holy Names, 7-0, on Wednesday afternoon on campus.
The Hornets (3-2) are in the midst of a stretch that will see the team play four home matches over a six-day span. Holy Names, a Div. II program from Oakland, was playing its second match of the season.
Sacramento State got straight set singles victories from
Mate Voros,
Jan Silva,
Rudolfs Aksenoks,
Hayden Rand and
Tyler Waddock.
Michael Gravel earned his first Div. I collegiate singles win with a three-set victory at No. 6.
In doubles play, the tandems of Voros/Silva (6-0 at No. 1), and
Patrick Wong/Gravel (6-3 at No. 3) combined to win the point. Of the Hornets' five matches thus far, Sacramento State has won the doubles point four times.
The Hornets are back in action for home matches on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's match will begin at 10 a.m., and the Hornets will play Pacific on Sunday at 1 p.m.
