SOFTBALL LANDS TRANSFERS LEANDRA CORONADO, SAVANNAH WAHL AND JADA WALKER

SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State 10th-year head softball coach Lori Perez announced that three junior college players will transfer to Sacramento State, and enroll at the University as juniors in the fall.
 
The three players are Cosumnes River College shortstop Leandra Coronado, Butte College pitcher Savannah Wahl, and College of San Mateo outfielder Jada Walker.
 
"We are excited about the additions of Jada, Leandra, and Savannah," Perez said. "They each come with a good amount of experience, maturity and athleticism. They will fit in well with our team culture and family dynamic."
 
LEANDRA CORONADO • SS • L/R • Elk Grove, Calif.
• A 5-foot-8 shortstop from Elk Grove, Calif.
• Played three seasons (2020-22) at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento.
• Helped the Hawks to a combined record of 50-33 overall and 29-16 in the Big 8 Conference.
• A first team all-conference selection in 2022.
• Hit at least .360 all three seasons, including a .468 average during her first year.
• For her career, she hit .405 with a .463 on-base percentage and .924 ops. Scored 72 runs with 41 RBIs in 79 games.
• A 2019 graduate of Monterey Trail High School in Elk Grove.
• Named Monterey Trail's Female Student-Athlete of the Year, first team all-Metro, first team all-city and the Delta League MVP as a senior.
• Hit better than .500 during each of her final two seasons, including a school-record .578 as a senior.
• Batted .533 as a junior.
• Also played three years of basketball, and one year of both soccer and tennis at Monterey Trail.
• Played travel ball for the Stingers of Sacramento.
 
Perez quote - "Leandra is a local player who has a ton of experience at shortstop, and can fill in at other positions as needed. She has good range and a steady presence. Offensively, she will bring gap to gap power to our lineup."
 
SAVANNAH WAHL • RHP • R/R • Chico, Calif.
• A 6-foot-1 pitcher from Chico, Calif.
• Played three seasons (2020-22) at Butte College in Oroville, Calif.
• Helped the Roadrunners to a combined record of 74-16, and 41-5 in the Golden Valley Conference.
• That included a 43-3 record (best in school history) and a Northern Super Regional championship in 2022.
• As a senior, she was named NFCA first team All-American, 3CFCA NorCal Pitcher of the Year, Golden Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year, CoSIDA Academic All-American and the Butte College Female Student-Athlete of the Year.
• That year, she was 21-2 with a 0.76 ERA, a 4.5-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio, and 157 strikeouts in 157.0 innings.
• Also named all-state and the conference pitcher of the year in 2021 after going 12-2 with a 1.24 ERA and 80 strikeouts in 85.0 innings.
• In her three seasons, she was 38-8 with a 1.19 ERA, 37 complete games and 282 strikeouts in 293.0 innings.
• Also hit .360 during her Butte College career with 72 RBIs in 88 games.
• A 2019 graduate of Chico High School
• Played three years of varsity, and helped the Panthers to section championships each of those three seasons. Named the school's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
• Played travel ball for the Chico A's.

JADA WALKER • OF • L/R • Foster City, Calif.
• A 5-foot-9 outfielder from Foster City, Calif.
• Played three years (2019-21) for College of San Mateo.
• Helped the Bulldogs to a three-year combined record of 95-6, and 31-0 in the Coast League.
• That included a CCCAA state championship in 2022, the first-ever state title for any women's program in College of San Mateo history.
• A first team all-conference selection in 2022. Hit at least .330 all three seasons, including a career-best 483 average during her 2019 freshman season.
• During her career, she stole 48 bases in 50 attempts, and struck out just 16 times in 274 at-bats (once every 17 at-bats).
• Hit .398 for her career with a .438 on-base percentage and 49 RBIs in 94 games. Also hit .458 during the postseason.
• A 2019 graduate of San Mateo High School. Played all four seasons on varsity.
• A four-time all-conference selection, inducing a two-time first team choice.
• Played three sports - volleyball, basketball and softball - as a freshman.
• Played travel ball for the West Bay Warriors of San Mateo.

Perez quote - "Jada is an athletic outfielder with a strong arm, great range, and can play any of the three outfield positions. Offensively, she will find a way to get on base, and will be a threat with her speed.
