MORGENTHALER, KOETH WIN INDIVIDUAL TITLES; GYMNASTICS SCORES 193.625

USAFA, Colo. — Sacramento State gymnasts combined for six top three finishes, including event wins from Emma Morgenthaler and Amber Koeth in a dual meet at Air Force on Friday night. The host Falcons earned the win with a total of 194.200 while the Hornets totaled 193.625.

Sacramento State opened on bars where it scored 48.375.  Morgenthaler opened the lineup with a 9.750 which tied her for third place along with Shaye Mathias. Amber Koeth was sixth overall with a 9.725.

The Hornets totaled 48.625 on vault while the Falcons scored 48.625 on bars in the second rotation. Morgenthaler continued her brilliant run in the event, scoring 9.825 to win the individual title. Grace Gilman was second with a 9.775 and Destiny Watley took sixth with a 9.700 from the top of the lineup.

The team moved to floor in the third rotation and produced a 48.450. The final four competitors in the lineup all scored between 9.700 and 9.800 led by Amber Koeth who tied for second place. Morgenthaler was fifth with a 9.775.

On beam, Koeth finished in a three-way tie for first place with a 9.800. Gilman was fourth overall after receiving a 9.750 and Peyton Gillen scored 9.725. Unfortunately, the team was forced to count a fall resulting in a team total of 48.175.

Morgenthaler was second in the all-around with a four-event score of 38.975. That mark placed her just behind Air Force's Genevieve Sabado who won the all-around at 39.025.

Sacramento State will next compete against UC Davis on Saturday, March 5, at The Nest at 3 p.m. The meet will serve as Senior Day for the team as the Hornets will honor the graduating members of the team following the meet.
