Box Score SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento State was unable to slow the red-hot Pacific Tigers Friday night, falling to the visiting club, 4-0, at Hornet Field.
With the loss, Sacramento State is now 1-5-1 to start the season. Pacific, meanwhile, has won five straight and is now 7-1-1 overall.
The Hornets started slow and were unable to recover on Friday as the aggressive Pacific squad brought the pressure on both the offensive and defensive ends. A balanced time of possession in the box score tells an incomplete picture as the Hornets spent most of their possession on their own end of the field while the Tigers seemingly never played the ball back behind midfield.
The Tigers broke through for their first goal of the night in the 19th minute when the team's scoring leader, Jaida Nyby found the back of the net for her third goal of the year.
It was nearly 60 minutes later before Pacific scored again, doubling its advantage in the 75th minute. That's when the floodgates opened, and Pacific continued to add on, scoring again in the 83rd before adding its final goal in the 90th minute, with just 30 seconds remaining.
Sacramento State managed just two shots in the match, one each by Isabella Vinsonhaler and Jasmyne Dunn, though neither placed theirs on target. Following games of nine and 10 saves, Katie Price had just one on Friday.
The non-conference portion of the schedule comes to a close as Sacramento State travels to Fresno State to take on the Bulldogs on Sunday. That non-conference finale kicks off at 12 noon in the valley and will stream live online on The Mountain West Network with live stats also online at HornetStats.com.
