FRESNO, Calif. — The Sacramento State women's soccer had residency inside the 6-yard box of Fresno State for most of the night but it took a late goal to earn a 1-1 draw against the Bulldogs on Thursday evening at Bulldog Soccer Stadium. The tie kept the Hornets unbeaten at 4-0-2 while Fresno State dropped to 0-4-1.
 
Sacramento State tallied 22 total shots on the night with 15 on goal. The team had numerous opportunities to break through in the game but Fresno State keeper Jessica Reiss recorded 14 saves and several other balls were swept away by the Bulldog back line. The Hornets were finally able to equalize in the 88^th minute when Candace Ching took advantage of a misplayed touch by the defender to find her fourth goal of the season.
 
Fresno State took an early lead behind a goal from Hayden Crotty-Romero in the third minute. A long free kick in front of the Hornet goal was momentarily cleared but found its way to Crotty-Romero who slid it into the lower right corner of the net.
 
"I thought we had the better of the opportunities," Sacramento State head coach Tim Strader said. "I think we hit the crossbar three or four times but we just have to finish the game. It's a bit of a frustrating one that we left it on the table tonight."
 
Alexa Malaspina returned to goal for the Hornets and finished with seven saves on the Bulldogs' 13 shots.

The draw makes Sacramento State 1-0-3 in its last four trips to Fresno. The game was also a dramatic improvement over a 6-0 setback at home last season against the Bulldogs.
 
Sacramento State will host Saint Mary's on Thursday, Sept. 10 at 4 p.m.
