SOFTBALL'S GAME WITH SAINT MARY'S HALTED AT 8-8 DUE TO DARKNESS

Box Score

SACRAMENTO -- Sacramento State's third game of the Capital Classic Softball Tournament against Saint Mary's was halted in the ninth inning with the score tied at 8-8 because of darkness. The game will not be resumed this season, and will go down as a tie.

The tiebreaker rule went into effect in the eighth as each team places a runner at second base to begin each inning.

Sacramento State trailed, 6-0, in the 6th inning, and 8-4 in the seventh inning, but made a spirited comeback. That included a clutch two-out, two-run pinch hit double by Amber Rodriguez which tied the game in the seventh.

Sacramento State concludes the three-day Capital Classic tomorrow against both UConn at 11:30 a.m. and Santa Clara at 2 p.m. For complete tournament information, including results and schedule, click here.
