SACRAMENTO -- Cianna Andrews had 17 kills and a .538 hitting percentage, and Sarah Davis added 18 kills and 11 digs to lead Sacramento State to a three-set sweep (25-15, 25-23, 27-25) of Portland State on Tuesday evening at the Nest.

With the victory, Sacramento State won its season high fourth straight match while improving to 10-10 overall and 5-2 in the Big Sky Conference. In addition, the Hornets moved into sole possession of second place in the conference standings. The only team Sacramento State trails is Northern Colorado (6-0), and the Hornets host the Bears on Thursday night at 7 p.m.

Prior to tonight, the Hornets had played in a program-record five straight five-set matches. That streak finally came to an end this evening as Sacramento State improved to 47-22 all-time against Portland State, including 23-4 when playing the Vikings at home.

The Viks dropped to 7-11 overall and 3-4 in the conference. Portland State has now played five of its first seven Big Sky games on the road.

The Hornets used late rallies in both the second and third sets to pull out close victories. That included overcoming a 23-21 deficit in the second by closing on a 4-0 run. In the third frame, Sacramento State saved a set point at 24-25 before closing on a 3-0 run.

Sacramento State dominated Portland State in kills (51-30), assists (48-29), aces (10-2) and digs (56-46). The Hornets hit .238 while limiting the Vikings to a .208 mark.

Andrews had a huge night, finishing with 17 kills, three blocks and a .538 hitting percentage. The middle blocker had eight of those kills in the second set, which included a kill on set point at 24-23. Davis, who is fifth in the nation in total kills, finished with her fourth straight and 10th double-double as she added 11 digs and three aces to her match-high 18 kills. Davis has now led or tied for the team lead in kills in 14 straight matches.

Outside hitter Macey Hayden added nine kills and 14 digs, and middle blocker Sarah Falk posted three kills, two blocks and a .600 hitting percentage. Setter Ashtin Olin, who was named the Big Sky's Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, went for 44 assists, three aces, seven digs and three blocks.

Rightside hitter Kayla Subbert had three kills and two aces, libero Michelle Taynton had 10 digs, Paige Swinney six digs and McKenna Smith four digs.

Portland State was led by Parker Webb's 10 kills, 10 digs and .357 hitting percentage. Libero Ellie Snook had a match-high 16 digs.

Tonight opened a season-high tying three-match homestand as the Hornets return to action on Thursday vs. Northern Colorado at 7 p.m. The homestand concludes next Thursday vs. Montana at 7 p.m.
