Box Score MISSOULA, Mont. – For the third consecutive match – all on the road - Sacramento State went undefeated in singles and won the doubles point in recording a 7-0 shutout of Montana on Saturday morning in Missoula.
Sacramento State, which had similar 7-0 scores at Northern Colorado and North Dakota last weekend, improved to 10-8 overall and 6-1 in the Big Sky. Montana dropped its ninth consecutive match, falling to 3-13 overall and 2-4 in league play.
The Hornets easily claimed the doubles point, with sophomores Emily McColl and Anna-Maria Nau earning a 6-1 win at No. 3 in the first completed match. Senior Jennifer Ong and sophomore Ana Loaiza Esquivias won their seventh consecutive doubles match and improved to 7-0 in Big Sky doubles this year with a 6-3 win at No. 1. With the point clinched the No. 2 match went unfinished.
Sacramento State won all six singles matches in straight sets. Junior Deimante Bulatovaite earned the first win beating Cam Kinkaid 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 and Loazia Esquvias quickly won her match at No. 3, 6-2, 6-1. The team victory for the Hornets was clinched when Ong topped Lidia Dukic 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2.
Junior Alina Soltanici beat Montana's Francis Dean 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 1 position. Junior Andie Mouzes earned a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 5 and Nau completed the sweep beating Stanzi Stuijt 6-0, 6-3 at No. 6.
Bulatovaite and Loaiza Esquivias remained undefeated in Big Sky singles this season with both at 7-0. Nau is undefeated at 7-0 overall this season with a 3-0 mark in the Big Sky. In the last three matches Sacramento State has dropped only one game in going 18-0 in singles play.
The Hornets play at Montana State on Sunday morning in Bozeman.
