2021 Season
Opened the season as the Hornets’ starting libero, but suffered an injury early in the second match of the season…after missing a month, she came back on March 12, and played at defensive specialist the rest of the way…played in eight matches, including 19 sets…averaged 1.79 digs per set…had 12 digs in the season opener at Northern Arizona…combined for 19 digs in two matches at Montana, including 11 on March 21…finished career with 909 digs, and an average of 3.17 per set.
2019 Season
Played in 30 matches, including 110 sets…battled a foot injury the majority of the season…was a team co-captain…played matches at both libero and defensive specialist…averaged 2.71 digs per set, the second best mark on the team…had 12 matches with double figures in digs, including 27 vs. Nevada and 25 against Army…in that match against Army, she also had a kill and seven assists…had at least 18 digs on six occasions.
2018 Season
Played in 31 matches, including 116 of a possible 120 sets…missed one match because of injury…played in 28 of those matches as the team’s libero, and played three matches at setter…was forced into the setter role for three matches because of injuries at the position…finished with an average of 4.34 digs per set, the seventh best mark in the Big Sky…posted double figures in digs on 27 occasions, including each of her last 17 matches of the season…named all-tournament at both the Hornet Invitational and Sacramento State Invitational…named the Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 10…averaged 4.47 digs per set in conference play, the eighth best mark in the Big Sky…career high of 32 digs came against Arizona on Aug. 25…finished the season with 503 digs, the 59th best mark in the nation.
2017 Season
Took a redshirt and did not play during the season.
2016 Season
Played in 21 matches, including 41 sets as a true freshman…averaged 1.80 digs per set…posted double figures in digs on two occasions: 12 vs. both UT Arlington and UTEP…also had nine digs vs. Cal State Northridge, and eight digs vs. Cal Poly…finished the season with totals of seven kills, four aces and 74 digs…had two aces, four digs and a .400 hitting percentage in a win against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
High School
A 2016 graduate of Fort Bend Austin High School in Sugar Land, Texas…played four years of varsity volleyball for the Bulldogs…that included playing the final three years as a starting six-rotation outside hitter…as a senior, she helped the 2015 team to a 46-3 overall record, a 16-0 district mark, an appearance in the semifinals of the Class 6A state tournament and a Region III-6A championship…that season, she was an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) honorable mention All-American and third team all-state after averaging 3.11 kills, 2.84 digs and 0.51 aces per set while hitting .269 as a six-rotation outside hitter…a three-time first team all-district selection, Fort Bend Austin posted a three-year combined overall record of 113-19 and 45-1 in district matches since she became a starter as a sophomore in 2013…was part of two straight area championship and three consecutive district championship squads…the Bulldogs lost just one set over her final two years in district play…a three-time all-tournament selection, including the 2015 Clear Creek Tournament MVP…posted over 340 kills each of her final three seasons, and had the rare distinction of being a member of the 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs club…finished her career with 1,178 kills and 1,112 digs in 419 sets played… raised her hitting percentage every year of her career, and, despite coming off the bench her freshman season, finished with career averages of 2.81 kills, 2.65 digs and 0.59 aces per set…finished with 249 career aces and a healthy service aces-to-error ratio (249 aces, 188 service errors)…in 1,626 serves sent her way, she had just 65 reception errors, good for an impressive .960 reception rate.
Personal
A communication studies major who will graduate in the spring of 2021…parents are John and Rachael Swinney…played for the Houston Skyline Junior Volleyball Club…sister, Kaitlyn, competed for the Rice swimming team.
