2015 Season
An honorable mention all-Pacific North Region and first team all-Big Sky Conference selection…became just the sixth Sacramento State player to be named all-region during the volleyball program’s Div. I era (1991-pres.), and first since 2007…joined former Hornets Missie Stidham (2007), Kristin Lutes (2006), Sandra Bandimere (2004), Lisa Beauchene (2003) and Jill Haas (1995) as the Sacramento State players to be named all-region…became the first Hornet selected first team all-conference since 2007…finished the season with averages of 4.12 kills, 0.54 blocks and 4.53 points per set while hitting .305…that .305 hitting percentage is the best single-season mark by a true outside hitter during Sacramento State’s Div. I era…played in all 33 matches, and 121 of a possible 122 sets, while posting at least 11 kills in all but five matches…that included eight contests with 20 or more kills, and at one point, a streak of 19 consecutive matches with double figures in kills…was the only player in the Big Sky to rank among the league’s top 10 players in kills per set (4th), points per set (5th) and hitting percentage (8th)…a three-time Big Sky Player of the Week award winner, Kissell was also a three-time all-tournament selection (including MVP of the Holly Springs Volleyball Invite)…in conference play, she raised her numbers to 4.53 kills per set, 4.91 points per set and a .324 hitting percentage…enjoyed playing at the Nest where she averaged 4.76 kills per set and a robust .398 hitting percentage on the home floor…the front-row outside hitter tallied 499 kills, the 10th best single-season mark in Sacramento State history…named the Sacramento State Student-Athlete of the Week on Sept. 21.
2014 Season
Played each of the final nine matches of the season, including eight starts at outside hitter…averaged 2.94 kills, 0.91 digs, 0.38 blocks and 3.17 points per set…posted double figures in kills in five of those matches, including each of the final four contests of the season…during the final match of the year vs. Southern Utah, Kissell posted season highs in both kills (23) and attacks (60)…had 12 kills against both Weber State (road) and Northern Arizona (home), 11 kills at Montana, and 10 kills at Idaho State…had a season-high tying three blocks on two occasions…season-high six digs at Portland State…of the four matches she didn’t reach double digits in kills, Kissell posted nine kills on two of those occasions.
Prior to Sacramento State
At San Joaquin Delta College: Played her sophomore season (2013) at Stockton’s San Joaquin Delta College…was a first team all-state selection after finishing second in the state in kills (462), third in kills per set (5.13) and 19th in hitting percentage (.350)…played all 27 matches for a Mustang squad that finished 21-6 overall, 12-2 in the Big 8 Conference and advanced to the third round of the CCCAA NorCal Regionals…had at least 12 kills in 23 of the final 24 matches of the season, posted 17 double-doubles, had seven matches with 20-plus kills and went over the 30-kill mark on two occasions…that included the final match of the regular season against Sacramento City College in which she had 31 kills, 15 digs, and hit .466 (31-4-58)…posted double-doubles in all three matches of Regionals and averaged 6.0 kills per set and a .337 hitting percentage during the team’s opening round victories over Solano and Foothill.
At Cal State Fullerton: Player her freshman season (2012) at Cal State Fullerton as a rightside hitter…named to the Big West Conference all-Freshman Team…played in 30 matches (18 starts) for a Titan squad that finished 15-16 overall and 9-9 in the Big West…finished the season with averages of 1.75 kills, 0.40 digs and 0.61 blocks per set while hitting .222…despite being a true freshman, her total of 200 kills were the third best mark on the team and her 238.0 total points and 70 blocks were both the fourth highest marks…one of seven players named to the Big West’s all-Freshman Team while becoming the first Titan all-Freshman choice in three years…posted at least seven kills on 17 occasions, and finished with double figures in kills six times…that included a season-best 16 kills at Pacific…two of those six matches with double digits in kills came against UC Davis, where she had 11 in both matchups with the Aggies.
High School
A 2012 graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Stockton…played four years of varsity volleyball for the Rams…as a senior (2011), she led the team to a Tri-City Athletic League championship after being named the league’s MVP and the Stockton Record’s Player of the Year…had 358 kills that season and finished her four-year career with 884 kills…ranked second in the nation on MaxPrep.com’s kill/error ratio breakdown as a sophomore…was a first team all-league selection as a junior…also a second-team all-area middle blocker in 2009.
Personal
A sociology major who is on pace to graduate in the fall of 2016…parents are Leon and Kim Kissell…played for the Rage Volleyball Club in Ripon, Calif.
