No stranger to Sacramento State, Alana Holt completed her first season on the Hornets’ coaching staff in 2022-23.
She spent three years competing at Sacramento State from 2017-20. An American Athletic Conference all-academic selection, Holt won a bronze medal at the San Diego Crew Classic with the novice eight as a freshman in 2018. That marked the first time a Hornet novice eight had ever won a medal at the prestigious event.
Holt competed with three different boats during her first two years with the program before the pandemic stripped away nearly her entire third season. As a sophomore, she stroked the second varsity four to victories over Tulsa and Gonzaga at the Lake Natoma Invitational.
Her coaching tenure began as an assistant for Capital Crew in 2021-22, where she helped coach the program to impressive finishes at the 2022 Youth Nationals. That included a first place finish in the pair, and a fifth place finish for the U17 Eight. In addition, the eight won the San Diego Crew Classic.
A native of Folsom, Calif., Holt graduated from Sacramento State in the spring of 2022 with a communication studies degree.
