Elexus Trenkle enters her third season as the Sacramento State women's basketball Chief of Staff in 2025-26.

“Elexus comes from a family that is rich in basketball history and success,” Head Coach Aaron Kallhoff said. “She has a tremendous work ethic and will be a huge asset in keeping this program on track and moving toward our goals.”

After serving as a graduate assistant on the Tarleton State men's basketball staff in 2021-22, Trenkle was elevated to the program’s director of operations for the 2022-23 season, helping Tarleton to 17 wins and a berth in the 2023 College Basketball Invitational.

"I am excited to be a part of the Sacramento State athletics department and to work with Coach Kallhoff on continuing to build on the success of the women's basketball program,” Trenkle said. “I look forward to this upcoming season and contributing to the winning culture."

Although she was a four-year letter winner in softball at both Nicholls State and UTSA, Trenkle has a rich family lineage in the sport of basketball.

Her father, Swede Trenkle, is the head men’s basketball coach and assistant athletic director at Hill College in Hillsboro, Texas. Trenkle’s grandfather, Fred Trenkle, served as the head men’s basketball coach at College of Southern Idaho from 1983-93 and is one of the winningest coaches in school history.

He won 10 conference championships, earned eight NJCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament berths, led the program to four Final Four appearances and was indicted into the NJCAA Basketball Hall of Fame. Additionally, two of her uncles have coached at the junior college and high school levels.

A native of Hillsboro, Texas, Trenkle wrapped up her collegiate softball career with UTSA in 2020 after spending her first two years at Nicholls State in Thibodaux, La.. Prior to that, she enjoyed a standout prep career where she was a four-time all-district honoree as an infielder for Hillsboro HS, earning all-state honors as well as receiving district offensive MVP and Super Centex Softball Team accolades  as a senior in 2016.

Also a standout in the classroom, Trenkle was named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll in 2019, while finishing fourth in her high school graduating class with a 4.29 GPA. She received her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from UTSA in 2020 and earned her master’s degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in sports administration from Tarleton in May of 2022.
